Samsung was one of the first tech companies to make a meaningful incursion on the VR front with the Gear VR headset (developed in conjunction with Oculus). The unique feature setting it apart from the previous headsets mentioned is that it was designed primarily to support a smartphone, an obvious choice given Samsung's dominance in the global market.
To date we have seen a couple of different versions of the Gear VR headset to support the various models of Samsung's smartphone family. All adopting a slide-fitting of the device and a split screen mode to cater for each eye.
The latest Samsung displays are high resolution which results in a dreamingly epic VR graphics experience.
Gear VR is currently available for around the $120 price mark, with the option to purchase a controller too for another $70 or so. If you already have a compatible phone this is a very attractive price.
