The latest chapter in the Dark Souls series from Japanese developer FromSoftware, Dark Souls III is an epic adventure platform with its sword and sorcery combat as its trademark and immersive RPG gameplay. Players travel across a an interconnected world of challenge and amazingly deep role playing in the search for survival of the pending apocalypse.
The Souls game series, and spinoffs such as Bloodborne have generated exponential sales over the years to critical acclaim and even though it is a formula with an almost annual release it never gets tiresome. This 3rd saga in the series brings new dynamics to a favourited theme with a refreshing result.
We would like to say right out of the gate that Dark Souls III is notably better than its predecessor. in many ways including better thought out level design, more balanced gameplay - especially in respect to the quality of boss characters and more of an emphasis on exploring and role play. Dark Souls III has been described by some critics as almost a hybrid between Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls.
Side quests in this third storyline feel far more pertinent to the main story instead of being hung loosely connected to what is happening in the world, they are also harder (but not impossible) to miss in this version too and will drastically modify certain events and their conclusions.
It is obvious that although there may be some shortfalls, for the most part Dark Souls III will have players immersed in a undeniably deep and immersive adventure that the developers has become renowned for.
